The National Workshop on Pro-poor Water and Wastewater Management which was held last September 26-28, 2007 aimed at disseminating innovative practices in water and wastewater management among the 9 municipalities present from the Provinces of Benguet, Samar and Sorsogon. Case studies presented were experiences from various countries in Asia such as the Philippines and Indonesia.
The workshop provided a venue for participants to discuss and define strategies towards pro-poor integrated and participatory water and wastewater management in their respective municipalities taking the lessons and best practices from the presentations.
The DILG-GTZ WATSAN Program as one of the most experienced programs in the sector has expressed their support to the UNESCAP workshop by showcasing the different sustainable and affordable sanitation technologies in an exhibit. Featured in the exhibit were the 1st LGU-Constructed and Managed Constructed Wetland in Bayawan City, Negros Oriental and the Urine-diversion dehydration toilet (UDDT), both considered as low-cost technology options.
