The DILG – NWRB – NAPC – GTZ Water and Sanitation Program conducted the 1st GM Orientation Workshop last July 18, 2007 at Balay-Kalinaw, UP Campus, Quezon City.

The workshop was designed to facilitate a venue for 13 participants (11 females, 2 males) to discuss the issues and opportunities of mainstreaming gender in the program.  The objectives of the workshop were: (1) To discuss and arrive at a common understanding on concepts related to gender and the rationale of gender mainstreaming in WATSAN; and (2) To identify actions, interventions and capacity-building needs in mainstreaming gender in the program.

At the end of the workshop, an Action Plan was developed towards mainstreaming gender in the program’s activities and interventions.  For more information about this activity, please contact Ms. Carissa Doering at Carissa.Noche@gtz.de
