The re-elected Provincial Governor of Bohol , Hon. Erico Aumentado, signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on June 5, 2007 with the Basic Needs Services Phils. (BNS-PHILS) in partnership with the Bremen Overseas for Research and Development Association (BORDA) for the implementation of Decentralized Wastewater Treatment System (DEWATS) for the Provincial Capitol Compound.
The Governor instructed the Head of Provincial General Services Office (PGSO), Engr. Rosalinda Yu, to fast track this activity. He further stressed that he would set an example first in treating the wastewater of the Provincial Capitol Compound. He was delighted that the DEWATS technology is not that expensive compared to mechanized system which also promotes natural treatment process.
The DILG-GTZ Water and Sanitation Program introduced the technology to the Governor and to the Head of PGSO through its Provincial Partner the Bohol Integrated Water Resources Management Team (BIWRMT) headed by Engr. Hermilo Arcaya. On the other hand, Engr. Rosalinda Yu visited the DEWATS facility of Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) in Valenzuela City in March 2007 to have an actual know-how on the operation of said system. The DEWATS facility in BAI was supported by GTZ and BORDA.
